Thai Spicy Basil Fried Rice

Thai Spicy Basil Fried Rice is a Thai style fried rice made with regional ingredients and leftover cooked rice. Holy Basil has a unique flavor and is the key component to making this tasty dish. Adding Holy Basil to fried rice makes it unique and a fan favorite on its own . This recipe is simple to make and absolutely basily delicious!

ingredients

3 cups day old rice

5 garlic cloves

3-5 thai chili peppers or 1 tbsp dry roasted chili powder (See Note)

2 tbsp oyster sauce

1 tbsp fish sauce

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 tsp white sugar

¼ teaspoon ground white pepper

½ red onion (thinly sliced)

1-2 cups holy basil leaves

1 cup chinese broccoli

1 pound jumbo shrimp

 1 egg

4 Tbsp oil

directions

One

Mix together oyster sauce, fish sauce, soy sauce, white sugar, white pepper and set aside

Two

Stir fry chinese broccoli and set aside

Three

Mince garlic and thai chili peppers in mini food processor

Heat oil in a wok, fry garlic and chili peppers until a golden brown

Add the onion and shrimp and cook for 1 minute each side

Push ingredients to the side of the wok and scramble eggs

Next add in the sauce mixture and stir everything together

Eight

Throw rice into the wok and toss until the sauce is blended with the rice.

Add chinese broccoli and season to taste while doing a quick toss

Remove from heat and mix in basil leaves

Plate, serve, enjoy!
